Mid / upper 80s so I took the vet and long way into work. So I go on lunch & pick up a few things from another store and when I come back the dreaded happens.
Pull key / wait 10sec and service column lock appear on the dash.
I'm just like well... Damn I should have known this was going to happen, Last time it was this hot outside the same thing happened. Maybe there is a correlation ? I tend to only see the message when it gets really warm out but after it cools down some the messages go away
Luckily I stopped for lunch across the street from my work so I was able to just walk back but the car was stranded until just recently when the temps dropped and messages went away.
Guess I should install the LMC5 that's in my glove compartment
I have a bypass installed and I still get that message every now and then. I wait 10 seconds re-insert the key & off I go. No big deal.
Did you do the Brown Wire installation that is part of the LMC5? If not, see your instruction sheet on page 2 at the bottom titled "Optional LMC5 Modification Procedure". I had the same problem until I did the brown wire step suggested by Richard at Compliance. Suggest calling Richard at Compliance Parts. If you want a copy of the instructions, I can send via email. PM me.
Well, I wish I could say I feel for ya but I can't. If you had the fix in your glove box I'm going to say, WHAT THE HELL, MAN....Take the 15 minutes and get that thing installed.
I can't figure what the temp had to do with it but mine seemed to throw the message when it was cold until I did the brown wire mod. Richard said temp had nothing to do with it but go figure.
If it happens again before you get it installed, do this:
Turn the key to on, see service column lock message, leave key in position, disconnect and reconnect battery, start car (without turning key back to off), and drive away.
I figured this out when it happened to me. Ordered an LMC5 when I got home, but had to use this trick a few times until it arrived as the C5 is my daily.
