Default Gear shift indicator

How tough of a job is it to fix /replace gear shift indicator and light in gear shift ??? light is out and indicator is in 1st gear at all times ...xzo

You have to remove the center console and glove box. Light is easy to fix. It's a 194 bulb. There is no replacement part for the indicator.

No reason to remove the glove box that I know of. Simply removing the center console (has the center arm rest attached to the top of it) as well as the bezel surrounding the radio/HVAC controls will give you access to the shifter components.

Here are a couple of Word files that discuss replacing the light bulb as well as fixing a broken indicator - if that is what is wrong with your car.

I see often on Flea-bay replacements for the indicator and lens. Cost is around $25 if I remember correctly. I picked up one about a year ago on there. Otherwise I don't know of any other place to get replacements..

Zip corvette sells the gear shift indicator as well HERE

Now the actual replacement I have researched is a chore. My understanding is you have to disassemble the gear shift control box to get to it.

i didn't mean the one on the passenger side. i should have said radio bezel and arm rest.

well now i know where to get one. i have taken the assembly apart trying to repair mine before. not a real chore to do.
