Thinking about putting a set of 275/40/17 & 305/35/18 R888 on my z06 stock wheels. Any one run this set up? I have used tripe eights before on my isf but didn't now if there's a better choice for a weekend track Z.

Installed a set and ran 2 track days at PIR, they are a super tire. Mine provided better grip at 36 psi than the Toyo recommended 32.
How much of a bigger tire can the stock z06 wheels hold ?
I don't know what size you're trying to fit, but both the 305/35-18 and 315/30-18 R888 are spec'd to fit on a 10.5" wheel
If you don't want the same diameter tires up front as out back, you'll have to choose your front tires carefully with the 25.5"-tall 315/30 (the 24.7" 245 or 25.1" 255/40-17, for example, should work fine with the TC/AH system)

I was going to replace my tires soon....and I don't know a damn thing about numbers in the rubber. So darn said he had stock z06 rims with 275 front and 305 rear. I didn't know stock z06 could hold that.

Typically you can bump up 1 or 2 sizes on the stock rims. The R888s are a good option for the street and track. The Nitto NTo1s have a bit more grip on track as far as I'm concerned, but have a shallower tread depth.

If you look up your tire of interest on TireRack.com and go to the "Specs" tab, it will tell you the rim width range for every size
The 275/40-17|305/35-18 combo will fit fine on factory wheels
The 275-305 maintains factory ratio for the most part. What's happens to your speedo with the 315 in the rear?
It would run a hair high since those are a bit shorter than factory (as opposed to it running a couple MPH low as your car sits right now on the slightly taller tires), but you probably wouldn't want to run those with your 275/40 fronts; 255/40 would be a more appropriate height for that rear tire

went through two sets last year auto crossing, a great tire!
