I'm driving along at 70 on the interstate and all of a sudden the traction light comes on and abs light comes on. What does it require to check the system to find out what it actually needs..They won't go off and resetting does no good.
Like what was said above, check your codes. If you get a C1214 code your EBCM may need to be repaired or replaced. I replaced mine last winter.
Does the "Service T/C, ABS and Active handling" warning come on when you start car?
Check the fuse under the hood. I believe it is a 40amp, spot #52.
I checked the fuse #52 and 53 and #6 and they are all good. Disconnected the battery to put in new blower motor and the lights stayed off till halfway home and then came on again. The codes read service abs and service traction control. I don't know what they mean by service except to fix it. Thanks for your help.
I know, this question sounds unrelated, but are you having any starting problems or catalytic codes? Long story short, I had an ignition switch go bad that triggered abs/trac control codes (thought my brake module was toast but wasn't)... voltage issues, catalytic codes and even an a/c blower issue. These all started about the same time. It turned out the old ignition switch can affect several down stream items you would never connect the dots to without schematics. Just throwing another possible place to look your way because electronic stuff can be quite the headache.

Those ARE NOT codes, they are messages. You need to pull your codes like shown by 8VETTE7.

The codes show PO153 and P1415 in the PCM. The traction control system show the code C1286. I also have the yellow lights on the dash that says to service them both. I've had the car a year and they've never come on before. I was having a ground problem but fixed it by cleaning the 2 grounds behind the headlights.
