Just had a new clutch TOB slave and master put in my car but the shifter seems to be closer to the drivers side of the car than it was before . Is there some kind of adjustment that can be made to the shifter to move it over or does it go into only one place. thanks Joe
I thought it went in one place but when i'm in first and take off I can move the shifter to the right about 1 1/2 " and move it back . It seems as something is loose under the boot. ???

Go with your gut. I am guessing they didn't tighten something(s) up. Ticks me off when I pay for a pro to do a job, and the job is not completed.
Can you shift to all gears while driving?
Something not right for sure... I don't see how what you are describing is even possible...it should shift TERRIBLE if at all if they left out the lower box housing alignment bolts...actually I don't think it would even shift.
If the Clamp is loose it shouldn't shift either...
Ya got me... but it's NOT right
The "shifter box" might not have been re-installed correctly. A couple of years ago, I replaced the OE rubber bushings on the shifter box with polyurethane pieces. I started out with what I thought was plenty of time to do the job, then got pressed for time, as I had to do a little more "file and fit" than originally thought.
Bottom line, I rushed the job, to finish up, and didn't get the shifter box bolted in properly, and it wasn't sitting on the tunnel correctly. I seem to recall, it WAS offset to the left.....
Check the clamp at the rear of the shifter box - the way I found mine was very slightly loose was I had a lot of side to side play in 1st. It only needs to move a fraction to screw things up. If that's it, torque spec is 22 ft lbs (same as the 4 shifter box hold down bolts) and be sure to use Loctite.

1 1/2" I can see having a little play... but even then it won't shift right... I had a tiny bit of slip, and I couldn't even get it in first gear...

I could get mine into 1st after a lot of forcing it to the left - otherwise it went to into 3rd every time. Strangely the other gears were nowhere near as much a problem.

Gotch ya... I had mine totally apart and knew how it was supposed to work and knew instantly what the problem was and just pulled right back in the shop and fixed it...
I'm thinking it has to be loose I have all gears. The problem is when it is to the left I can't get it in first or second . If I push the shifter to the right and come back to first it will be ok. The guy who did the job said he only took out the shifter and disconnected from the rod that goes to the tranny. I'm bringing it back tomorrow . I think he just forgot to tighten the bolts. Will see and i'll let you guys no. thank for the imput. Joe
Well the saga is over . Got my car back again. He forgot to tighten shifter bolts. Should have done the job myself. If I had a lift in my garage I would have . thanks for the feedback guys
