used to be a ACDelco only user, but have since changed to Advance Auto gold or platinum.
Partially out of convenience - when the OEM batter finally died, I happened to be one store over from an Advance.
5 odd years later, when that one died, I was right next door to another Advance Auto.

About due for another one.

[QUOTE=LoneStarFRC;1589752192]A lot of the parts listings prepared by different manufacturers will show the 75 as it's a minimum size necessary to do the job and it's cheaper. Either will work, but the 78 is much better. Lasts longer, higher CCAs, higher RCs, etc. [/QUOT

The sears computer system tells you to get the 75 size battery for C5, unless they've updated it recently. It's in error. As posted earlier, just tell them you want the 78 series size (larger) battery.
The 75, is smaller, and slides around in the battery tray. The 78 fits perfectly, as it should. Ask me how I know....

The big one, has 850 cold cranking amps. It is big, and heavy, but powerful. This is a big battery, which C5 needs.

What ever brand you decide, get a big capacity battery.

AC Delco from the dealership. As is the case with many others, I plug it in whenever I don't anticipate using it for the next 5 days or more.

Just curious, but do they "have a pile" of other failed batteries, or just Optima's? In addition, I wouldn't buy one of their failed Optima's either!

It has a 2 year old AC Delco in it now. No issues with it, but I have never let the car sit for more than a day. I like the idea of an AGM, always used Yaesu on my bike. But there is a lot of bad word of mouth about optimas used on corvettes in particular.

I have always used Optima or AC Delco

I have had great luck with both,Having had Harley Davidson big twins most of my life.Investing in good battery tenders will save a lot of money
and the dreaded dead battery clicksSome people have problems with AGM"s because if it is dead the first thing they do is roll out a big battery charger on wheels and throw 24 volts on it or the quick start setting...that is the quickest way to kill any Red top.I sure am glad i do not have to deal with the cold weather any more

NAPA dual terminal. Lots of CCA and easy availability to top terminals in the event that a jump might be needed.

Not all 78 series fit. I measured one @ 10.5" at the base, which is 3/8" too long. I bought a Optima yello 34/78 just the other day to replace an 8 year old red top 75.

It's just as easy to clamp on to the side terminals?

I have had bad experiences with optimas. Tricky to charge when dead
Used to use Delcos. Quality has gone down.

If you got a 78 that "didn't fit" it's because whoever made that battery did NOT adhere to the industry standardized sizes specified by BCI. IF manufactured correctly and to BCI standards, all 78s, should fall into the same physical size range allowed by BCI to be labeled as a Group size"78".

If you say so. Side terminals facing forward with limited access area vs top terminals sticking straight up with no obstuction whatsoever.

I always get a dual-terminal (34/78) for that reason and ease of testing, etc as well. Usually little if any price difference.

I decided to quit using them mainly because after Feb 2009, you get a 3 year warranty and that's it. No pro-rating, no nothing, period.
