That's brutal. Hopefully the shop will cover that. There is no excuse for it.
When I took mine into discount tire, I put the pucks on myself and hovered around as they jacked it up. I know they didn't like the micromanagement, but I wasn't taking chances.

You are so right! Many 'discount tire' places, know nothing about Corvette needing the lift pucks. I saved my car from a similar fate as the OP, because I refused 'to take a seat in the waiting lounge' of their store while they lifted my car.
Some discount, that would have been....
You have to watch them, unless you are at a shop which works on C5 Corvette regularly.
Wow that suuuuucks. Looks like it got the door and the fender. I have the pucks you can snap in and leave. Only need to remove them if I ever need a tow. Good luck on the fix.

Believe me I'll be hovering my a$$ off from now on..if you want the full story on this little tragedy see the last entry in my monumental "Low-Buck C5" thread.

I'm in the process of replacing a cracked fender from a similar experience.
Unfortunately did not catch it until the next day (I was headed out on vacation that day), and the shop denied responsibility. Check your car carefully before dropoff and (most important!) before you leave the shop!
PS - I have 'leave in' pucks now and keep a printout of the acceptable jacking points in my glovebox, just in case.

I have the leave-in in pads too. One of the best accessories for a Vette in my opinion. Never have to worry about jacking with out them in. I always make a point to tell the techs that the the jacking pads are already in.
Not arguing against the use of jacking pucks, but it looks like they jacked the car up in the wrong spot. Wouldn't this have still happened even if you had the pucks in?

I bought some jacking pucks from a BMW dealer - they snap in and do a great job protecting the lower rocker panel. Have had them on the car for over 5 years and never had one come out yet.

I have to disagree. Your method works fine while doing work at home, but in the event you have to take the car into a dealership or other repair facility, the picks will save a lot of headache for you. But, it's your car so do as you please.
I got the actual hockey puck type with the eye screwed in. Only $20 shipped, they're not fancy but they will work if they position the arms of the lift correctly.
You're welcome. I've had three Corvettes. I've had three sets of these. Just the peace of mind from being able to go over the occasional unavoidable speed bump without worrying about crunching the rocker panels makes them worth the money. Not having to screw with jack pucks is icing on the cake.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
