Default MSD Automic Airforce Intake

For everyone that has asked about the Fitment of the new MSD Atomic Airforce Intake on the C5 Corvette; it does not fit!!! I speak from firsthand experience. The back of the intake hits the cowl and the firewall, in addition, the front TB Flange hits the top water pump bolt boss and bolt head. I called MSD Tech and they were absolutely of no help whatsoever, so I am returning it and putting my Z06 back on!

I was looking to buy one this past spring, but by the pictures I thought that the rear boss did indeed look a little big, plus they were not available then !!!!

Really sorry to hear that. I was seriously considering one for my C5. How much clearance would be needed at the cowl and at the TB flange to make it work? Do you have any pictures?

No pictures; too damn frustrated and didn't think about it. However, I can tell you, unequivocally, you have to 'wedge' it between the top vent cowl to slide it back, and then it dead-heads with the cowl, at the same time the front TB Flange is resting on the Water Pump Bolt Boss and Bolt Head. Horrible design as far as I'm concerned. [They] clearly didn't do their homework when designing it. I called them (waste of time) and the kid said, oh yeah, it'll fit! When I gave him the details of the problem, he said, hmmm, I don't know!

Invest in something else, as this piece will clearly waste your time! If you are trying to put it on the C5!

Thanks. Looks like I will stick with my LS6 intake for now.

Port your TB and keep riding! I've had no issues/concerns with my setup, just wanted to try something different to see if it was all it proclaimed to be!

The TB and manifold are already ported. Truth be told I was looking for something "different" under the hood and the claims of increased HP were also enticing. A moot point if it wont fit. MSD should have been more diligent in its research. They are potentially loosing a fair amount of market.

Well, you shouldn't have to modify anything! Poor designing on their part, and you are paying a premium, so it should drop on. If you have a C5 you will have to get very creative; not worth damaging your Car for 20 more HP!

Thanks for the feedback. Doubt I would want to do a lot of modification just to make it fit on the car.

!. I was first place in my class in NCCC regional Concourse Series
for 2014.

2. I track my vette and I am not afraid of damage.

3. I have holes and adjustments to the body to make speed
parts work.

4. If you are sooo worried about damaging your "stock" vette
stay away from altering your vette. There is NO guaranty
of any aftermarket parts fitting like stock parts.

5. Wake up and stay stock. Or make it work............

Hi FRC525HP,
I understand how disappointed you can be, but at least you got your money back...
Can you enlighten me about the year model of your car and the mods that were performed along the trail to get the 525 hp from your screen name please?

Apparently some of you weren't around in the 60s and 70s, where just about EVERY aftermarket part you bought, to hop up your muscle car, was "file to fit".......
