Seems to be a fairly common problem for the splines on the rear axles to get dry, dirty, rusty , or the axle nut itself to losing up and cause a clicking sound at low speed. My question is, what's the correct procedure to remedy this?
Do I just clean the axle splines or clean/lube them? Do I use loc tite or not? Do I re torque to 118 or 160? (Have read both)
Be sure to check for possible damage to the half shafts. The nut can also strip the threads. I broke a half shaft that way. I had the hub replaced at the same time because it was not perfect.
Guess they're not loose, breaker bar and a jack handle wouldn't break them lose
Get some PB Blaster and spray the nut and threads. Let them sit overnight and spray again. You will probably need an impact wrench to get the nuts loose. If you don't have an air compressor for a air impact wrence, you should be able to rent an electric version or go to Harbor Freight and buy their electric impact wrench.

I had let pb blaster sit on it all night, no luck, gonna take some air power!
