Default 3 minor interior questions

Can you guys help me diagnose why the door that goes down over the ashtray and cig lighter doesn't have enough force to hold the ashtray door down and thus close all the way? Am I missing a spring on the big door perhaps? It's got some force to close but not enough. Just hangs open about 1/2 inch when put down, with the ashtray door holding it semi open like that.

#2- Is a black carpet like liner of some kind supposed to be in the middle rear storage bin or is it supposed to be just that bare black plastic that it's made out of? My PO had a sub in there that I removed and there's nothing lining the bin now.

Lastly, where can I buy small oem fasteners (screws) and fastener covers? I'm missing a few of the black screws that hold the fwd console section to the dash, and also the small black covers that go over the 10mm bolts in the console storage area rear.

Thx, Mark

For the covers that go over the 10 mm bolts at the rear of the storage area in the center console, try Marc at VetteNuts. Bet he has some.

As for the center storage compartment, yes, there should be a felt type liner just like in the left/right compartments. At least mine has it in there.

I agree with Vetteman. Get in touch with Marc and he will most likely have the fasteners you need and the covers. Have you pulled the ash tray out of the hole and tried closing the door? Does it shut and stay down with that removed? Maybe your stereo surround is miss aligned and little or maybe the ash tray lid is catching on the door a little. I haven't checked to see if there's a spring or anything on that door so I can't help you there.

Thanks very much guys! Yes, when I take out the ashtray the cover stays down. Marc, I'll call you in the next few days! Very helpful all. Thanks again. Probably when I take the center upper console trim out and look, I'll probably find the issue with the cover. Mark

It is the spring in the door that is causing the door to come open. We may have one we can send you.

Don't want to hijack the OP's thread but i got the similar issue with my cup holder lid spring. It fell off and for the life of me I can't figure out where or how it goes back.
