Just thought I'd let everyone know. I pulled the radiator last weekend and cleaned out the fins and did the AC condenser as well and put in a new OEM thermostat. Drove it to work today and it's running at least 20 degrees cooler than it did. Makes me a happy camper.
So I was consistently running around 220 and a little above on the analog temp Gage. Now it is down significantly. I sat in traffic for about 10 minutes this morning and the temp remained rock steady, it used to creep up. I have not looked at a digital readout. All I did was soak it down a few times with Purple Power, let it sit for a few minutes and then hose it out. After it dried there were still some dried pieces of grass and stuff in the fins so I used the shop vac on it and it looked almost like new. Same thing in the AC condenser. Thanks everyone for all your help. This place is great.

Your radiator was pretty clogged. I gained about 2 degrees when I blew mine out. Went from 198 to 196 at cruisin speed. I'm sure there is still some crud in it.
If you have a Compressor, use an Air Pik and get down low and blow out the radiator at least once a year, you'll be surprised and all the junk that you'll end up sweeping off the garage floor. These cars ate bottom feeders and suck up all manner of leaves, sticks, bugs etc.....

I bought one from Harbor Freight a number of years ago, thought my radiator was pretty clean, used the air method and needed a big broom to pick up all the debris that came out. Especially near the top of the radiator and condenser.
I took mine out this past winter and cleaned it with air and water the more I cleaned the more junk came out. I decided to put a screen in front of the condenser and also made a lower screen, put in a 180 stat and it has not gone over 190 !!! Now every time I get under the car I see the debris on the screen on the condenser, I lower the bottom screen and vacuum it clean !!!!!
I used a Radiator Genie to clean the radiator. You still have to remove it from the car but it does a heck of a good job. It was recommended on this forum. Go here to get one.
I bought one of these on ebay, bent end to 90 degrees and cut it off so it's less than 1/2 inch. I then but the rubbertip back on it so not to damage fins. Works good and cost about 4 bucks.
