Questions about Mod's
Captures both the steering wheel badge and the passenger airbag lettering. While the quality of both are first rate from our forum vendor, the airbag lettering did need some help from an adhesive.
Color is silver but it looks almost silver/pearl/white. I really like it.
This is what it was like for the vast majority of the day we were there. Needless to say we were soaked. LOL
In between the earlier light rain and just before the major deluge began. We had only been at the festival for about 35 minutes.

As far as Corvette clubs are concerned it is down to either the Chicagoland North Corvette Club or the venerable Chicago Corvette Club. I plan to go to the CCC's general meeting this Wednesday in North Aurora, and then go to CNCC in Buffalo Grove the last Thursday of this month. Come August I should be a member of one of them.

I'm also currently checking into a track day at Black Hawk Farm. CNCC has a Corvette track day scheduled for Oct. 3 but I'll be in Ohio that Saturday. I almost called off the out of town plans in order to be at the Corvette track day.

I'll have to see if I can find another track day and/or see if those out of state plans get changed.

It is a "how too" on just about everything C5 related. Might even be some stuff you have not even thought of yet like the Anti Venom Mod.
Have fun!

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Our first club activity will be to join the rest of our CCC members on the Wilmot Dinner cruise in late August. Dee is really looking forward to it.

:lo l: You've been busy, busy, busy..

Where did you get the Halo lights from? They look great on our Vette's. It's something that I would like to see on mine next spring.
Also, how did you wreck your other Z, was it on a road course track or did something else happen to it? Just curious since I want to get mine up to Black Hawk.

I put some more washers under the rear base of the seat to take out all of that rake and it made the seat back more vertical. Now I have a more "race car" seating position like I used to have in my 300 zx's, and it's more comfortable to boot.

Regarding the exhaust: I definitely have it. I ordered it around mid-June and it came in the Friday that Dee and I were up at Bloomington Gold.

I have not installed it yet. Since I don't have jack stands due to the incline/decline of my driveway and front parkway, and I don't typically have access to a lift, anything I have to do under the car means I have to pay.
The plan is to get it put on within the next couple of weeks as some systems theory books and new baitcast reel & rod purchases got in the way.
I still need to do a "parts fit" with it to make sure everything goes together properly, although I have no worries about that thanks to your posts. I'll get some pic's up of the stuff in the box, but suffice it to say that it looks just like the pic's that you put up of when yours came in.

I'm really looking forward to getting that on and seeing what it sounds like and how it makes the car run.

Glad to hear you solved the gangster lean. I don't think it suits a Vette very well.
There's nothing worse than wanting/willing/able to work on your car and not having the space to do it. I'm sure the exhaust shop can work some magic and get it all buttoned up for you. The nice thing is they can correct anything that's needed while it's there. I'll be in awe if it goes without a hiccup. I'm looking forward to the pics and hopefully you can get a soundclip of the exhaust up too. I think we will be the only two running this system from the forum.Things are going great on my end. Ordered some BBK shortys which arrived today. Going to be installing them later today. Got a friend coming over that wants to learn more about working on cars so he is lending a hand. He just got his Z a few months ago and has been focusing on the show mod stuff. He recently started talking about how he has gotten used to the power. We know what that means.
I'm hoping I'll hit the 450-500whp with the drift tech axle back, shortys, DIY intake, 1.8 rockers, nitrous, and a tune.

but no other car was involved and I walked away with out a scratch so happy for that!

I got the lights from a local guy that had them posted on an auction site, they was not modded but got them very reasonable! I found a "how to" video and modded them myself took about an hour and a trip to frys for supplies
super busy so what little free time I get i've been spending it with my wife mostly

I only wish that Borla's price for this was in the $500-$575 range. If it was, I would have bought it from them just to give the support to an American company, especially since they designed the thing. I just don't want to spend $1k for something that maybe is being made for $250 when I can get it for less than $400. I believe in making a profit but....

I have a couple of shops that have said they will put it on but I need to find out what they want to charge me. The Corvette tax is in full force around here, let me tell you.

That is why I decided last night that I would go ahead and test the fit of the parts. Sure enough, I had to "open" up the muffler inlet pipe sides a little which took about 30 minutes in between multiple interruptions and having to come back to it. No scratches or disfigurement to anything and no big deal at all.https://vimeo.com/23418621
I didn't want whatever shop I decide to use to try and charge me an additional hour worth of labor for something that was pretty sublime and not worth even an honest 30 minutes of labor cost. I'll make a sound clip and get it up.
So your friend has gotten used to the power in his Corvette uh??.... Oh Oh...he's about to start on the engine and drive train mod crazy train...

Although I must admit that I'm starting to know where he's coming from, even though I won't get on that train for more than a quick stop down the street.

Last night I went for a ride and I found myself punching it a ton more than normal just to remind myself that it wasn't a BMW, and started thinking about what it would be like to have a mild cam, along with the FAST intake and LS2 TB put in...

Of course, all of that punching it DOES indicate that it's time for the exhaust to be put on. Hopefully I'll get a nice but noticeable difference other than just sound.
If not, i'll be honest and let everyone know if I wind up not being able to earnestly feel any difference. Of course, if my buddy and I DO feel a difference I'll report that back as well. I'll tell what the difference was, and in what part of the power band it occurred.

I'm with you about not having enough time and having to spend what little I get with the family. Our son's seventh B-day is this weekend and time is at a premium. I've also had some landscaping to do lately, and am a little burned out with it, even though I still have more to do. On top of that the front porch and garage need painting....it never seems to end. My buddy was right...when you buy a house you're not buying the house, the house is buying you.

We'll get together before the end of the year. I really want to see your light setup.
Family and some health issues with my wife's leg have had me running around like crazy the past several weeks. Looks like the wife will have to have some out patient surgery on her leg once they get things under control with the ankle.
I'm REALLY looking forward to getting the exhaust on. It will be cool to see if it does anything performance wise for the car that I can truly feel through the SOTP's. I've also come to the conclusion that sometime next year I would like to do a mild cam with an intake. Nothing crazy, but something that will add between 50 - 70 RWHP to whatever I currently have. I really don't want to diminish the trans, clutch, and engine longevity in any way so that's the max I would want to take it. When I have the cam put in I also plan on getting the harmonic balancer replaced since they will be right there.
I know that I plan on doing the FAST intake with an LS2 TB per Stroker87, but what are some suggestions for a cam that people are willing to recommend?
Thanks everyone.
