Default Ignition Switch

In previous threads I mentioned that I was experiencing DIC codes to "service ABS/Traction control". I've gotten good/great feedback from Forum members. One issue I was experiencing was that I was not getting the DIC alert or dash lights at every start. Most of the time yes, but not every time. I'm waiting to replace the EBCM (electronic brake control module) as a last resort. It has been suggested that my problem was caused by a faulty ignition switch. I've since purchased a new ignition switch. I have the procedure, provided by a forum member, for getting to and removing the switch assembly. However, I want to use my existing key/core in the new switch. I've searched the forum posts for the procedure for removing the key and core from my old switch. But without success. Can any forum member point me in the right direction. It would be greatly appreciated..

after you remove the switch, put the key in the lock and turn to run i think, and there is a small tab-press it in and the cylinder and key slides out..

the tab is some what hidden,, coming back to me,,, turn the key to start position... the tang is a gray looking square tab you push in and at the same time pull the key/tumblers out.. I think you have to do all 3 at the same time. turn to start-push tab- pull on the assembly out ..
hope this helps..

Thanks a million Mike. I found the square tab and was able to remove the tumbler core from the housing. I was looking near the key hole for the tab and it's actually located about half way down the length of the housing. It is approx. a 1/4" square metal tab slightly recessed in the housing. Just as you said, turn the key to start, press the tab and remove the tumbler core. Really appreciate your help as well as the other Forum members. This forum is the greatest!!!
