Vettronics in Alton Ill. also does the repair for about $50 and will change the lights to LED's for an additional 50 or so. You pay to ship your unit to him and he pays for return shipping.
Daves Corvette Illuminations. He is in Atlanta. He will fix the dim display plus fix the selector button lights as well. You can choose what color lights you want. Red blue green white amber pink. Has done two for me. Next day turn around also. Very good guy to deal with. Web address is www.davescorvetteilluminations.com
Just got my radio and AC Unit back from Dave last week with LEDs and they look great! Turnaround could not have been faster (same day in my case).
I had done the display re-solder on my AC several years ago myself, but the word "AUTO" was starting to fade in and out recently. Also all but one of my amber AC button lights have been out for as far back as I can remember. Dave said I had 4 resistors fried. Everything is nice and bright now! Will be posting pics soon, just waiting on some console repair parts to come in Monday. Since I drive almost exclusively at night, it feels like a new car!
