I recently bought the BP lights. What would I need to buy to replace the bulbs before I get all into it and install them? Any experience with the upgrade would be very appreciated. TIA

Well lets see. I have been playing around with this low beam mod to achieve the best light output wiith the Breathless setup. I just purchased another set of low beam housings that are euro cyrstal clear. I believe they are fitted to accept the 9005 bulbs already so it will eliminate the need to modify a sealed beam housing. Instead of using the 9005 bulbs I will be installing a set of 9011 HIR bulbs. These are an upgrade for the 9005's. Should have the new housings this week and I will post the review of them. If you did not order the 4 on relay harness with your kit I would order one. This allows your lowbeams to stay on when the high beams are on. Makes a big difference in illumination. Also if your interested I've made a set of lens dress plates. They set on the lip of the lens where the screws go throigh to secure it to the fiberglass fascia bucket. The lens plate distributes the pressure of the screw to help keep the lens from producing stress cracks. I've sent a set of these to Art Glennon and he has installed them on his. Maybe I can get him to chime in and let him give his opinion on them. Here is the link to the low beam housings.

did you buy them new or used? do the high beams say PIAA on them?

in the original instructions, they used to supply a weatherstrip to go around that area. mine haven't cracked yet because i didn't tighten them down until flush. they did suggest velcro to hold the lens down. they said show car guys would use it to make it easy to pull off and clean the lenses.

Hey Robert
I sent you a message on facebook. If you want a set of the lens plates let me know and I'll send you a set. I sent Art a set to mark the holes in the lens onto the plate. I was going to weld the studs and smooth out everything then have them ceramic coated. They would be smooth with no screws showing. They will also have a felt backing to protect the lens as well. Art just drilled painted and mounted them the day he got them. They look really good color matched to the car.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.... LOL
Well, they arrived, and I got all 'excited'.
Marked and drilled the holes, thinking to send them back to you, as you suggested for the 'studs and coating'.
But then I went the extra mile, and they turned out so good that I decided to save you the work.
Anyways, I LIKE the chrome screws. he he he
So, here are the finished installed product.
Now, we just have to figure out what I can do for you.
Ignore the red arrow in the last picture.. Silly me, that was for something else.
The last picture does not have the plates installed.
????
BUT it hints at the 'cracking' around the screws without the plates. UGH
My lights, which I got off Craigslist, have actual PIAA high beams.
Gotta tell ya, these babies are about one photon short of blistering the paint on the vehicle in front of me.
When I use the HIGH BEAMS, it's like daylight in front of me.
With the low beam modification, the 9005 sockets and bulbs and the Autozone upgrade to the BRIGHT BRIGHT bulbs, I have NO PROBLEM seeing at night on the highway and on dark local roads.
Dang Art rhere you go again making me spend more money. Mine are not the PIAA's. Going to have to invest in some of those as well. I also like the threaded clips on the bottom plate to eliminate the need for nuts. Did you paint the bottom plates also? If you need some precut felt strips.for.your plates let me know.

did you put anything between the lens and tub like the instructions say to do?

Yes that is what I have. These are supposedly made by PIAA but not the same as what Art has. I am searching for a.part number for them. Will be calling PIAA and Breathless to get the info I need.

I'll save you all that time. I did all the legwork. They are not made by piaa. They are made by a company called pilot. PIAA will say it on the lens.
I called PIAA, pilot, and breathless over this. Ended up with a partial refund. Ernie from breathless racing claimed he has limited space to use to get lighting to work. PIAA discontinued the 1000 series that breathless used to use. A suitable replacement would be PIAA 00492. Ernie swears it won't make any difference. I know better.
Not for 1400.00 dollars, unless they go back to using PIAA lights. over time, they have stopped putting items in, like the level bubble, foam seal between the tub and lens, switching out the 200.00 PIAA for the 30.00 crap pilot lights, etc.
Just got my piaa today. Did you install them the way the pilots were connected or did you install the harness and switch too? I would like to connect them to the high lights? TIA
You would wire them the same way as the pilot driving lights.
I wired them the same way the crap pilots were wired. Thanks Mister. Now. I would like to go to the range and go off with my ar at these pilots piece of craps. I wouldn't throw them away. Because it's part of the $1250.00 I spent.
I ended up buying them from fleabay like it was suggested by our buddy Stealth02. Thanks again for the help. By the way. Fedx stinks.
