Anybody ever add a grab handle to the frame of the removable hardtop? of a C5 coupe?? I thought it would be better than using the seatback to "assist" my lithe body out of the car.
Would the frame take it?? I also think it would make handling the top easier.
Can't say that I've ever seen that. Maybe it would make for a good product. I just don't know how you would go about attaching it, since the panel is thin. I suppose you could epoxy and use numerous self-tapping short screws, but even still with all the pulling, it would probably come off. Only one way to find out. See if you can source a cheap panel from a junkyard or something and try it out. Don't forget to think about the window clearance.
If you have difficulty, you could put your hand on the flat surface of the rocker panel (the wider part) and roll out.

Not to change the thread, but it drives me nuts when after all these years when my wife gets out of the car, I have to clean her hand prints from everywhere, windshield, 'A' post, door glass, etc. Then the final issue, she shuts the door by using the window, I then ask her nicely to close the door by using the door handle (1,000th time), here comes the dreaded 'stink eye' !! In one of the lowest sitting sports cars around you would think that a inside handle would have been a consideration in development !! Jus Say'n !!
I use the ledge on the door jam/piller with my left hand and hook your righ arm over the windshield piller to help pull yourself up. Dont think the pull strap would hold up. I have seen the tool on tv that u insert ino the piller door u shapped latch to push on to aid u n getting out. Nothing works very well when u are medicare eligible age, lol.
