some people need to get off their high horse. GPS, MP3 or streaming, OBD2 apps (torque/dash cmd), etc your smartphone does all that now.

a tensioned cup holder mount is what i think i want however i'm not sure it's deep enough to hold it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VIBRATION-FREE-Car-Cup-Holder-Mount-for-Apple-iPad-2-3-4-Air-MINI-7-12-Tablet-/221234030787?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33829368c3

In the C5, I removed the rubber liner form the POS factory cup holder, and put a disk in there.

Then I mounted this to the disk:

It works great, and all you need to do is basically throw the phone at it and it sticks. No pesky arms/springs to deal with.
I ended up buying this and installing it in the cup holder of my C5.... it works GREAT and it is not in the way of the driver or the passenger... It can be angled in any way you wish .. All I did was removed the rubber liner of the cup holder (it pulls right out) then I cut the disc to fit the suction cup ..Then simply stuck it in the cup holder and it works perfectly .. Here is the link to the holder on E-Bay for only $17 also I have attached a few pictures of it installed in my car.

Thanks for the update 2001C5Vert.

Does this require that you have a case for your phone then? It looks like there is a magnet that you mount to the inside of the phone case, and that is what holds it to the magnet on the arm?

This one works great too, really small, requires a small medallion stuck to the back of phone or phone case but it swivels in all directions.

See the metal medallion in the picture above or my previous post. You can stick it to the back of your phone. Or you can stick it inside of your case as I did.

If you use a Mophie (battery case) or something like this:

...the Scosche will likely not be ideal for you.

(FWIW, the Barbie case works great with my GF's VW Beetle's flower holder on the dash. )

Case or no case it works ... It does come with 2 sticky medal mounts (the holder is a magnet) one larger for inside of a case and a small one for no case (just stick it to the back of any phone)

Default Cell Phone Mount IBolt xProDock

See Attached photos.

Base attaches with double sided tape and design 'clamp'.
Would probably stay put without the tape... It mounted TIGHT.

The Ibolt adapter works to hold the phone holder to the dash bracket.

The Phone holder works Great.... I don't use the included software.
I just ran my own power from the console power adapter to the phone via under the console.

Hands free Audio from phone plugs into radio.
When phone rings, radio picks up the call through the sound system.
I can have a conversation hands free at 70mph with roof off and windows down.
