Is this real?
He's hoping to land a fish with more money than brains, so they can go brag to their friends that they have a factory s/c C5. Can't wait until an informed friend tells him otherwise.
Almost! www.thelingenfeltercollection.com

John built some fantastic cars (and the family still does), but none of those C5 Corvettes on that website left Bowling Green in that configuration. It and/or they, were built/converted by LPE.
The racing world lost a true leader in performance engineering/racing and by all accounts a true gentleman as well.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
In 1985, we were hired by GM to develop a turbo system for the Corvette, elevating the performance of the car. These cars (510 built) were shipped from Bowing Green to Old Lyme, then to the dealers. Where they were built does not matter - it was a Regular Production Option, with the final point of assembly in Old Lyme at our facility.
RPO B2K was reassigned in 2012 to our company, where we built 26 cars (prototype + 25 production) for our 25th Anniversary of RPO B2K.

Other notable cars of the era which were built in similar fashion:
1987 Buick GNX (McLaren)
1989 Pontiac Turbo TA (PAS)
1991-1993 GMC Syclone and Typhoon
I hope this helps clarify this very special chapter in Corvette history
GM enlisted the aid of Wheel-to-Wheel, Detroit. MI., in developing the Tiger Shark Corvette, which debuted at the GM Special Vehicles Media Event, Milan Raceway, Michigan, September 18, 2001. GM invited auto journalists to drive over 50 production based concept cars, including the Tiger Shark.
The C5 based Corvette Coupe runs a 7.0L/427CID (bored out Corvette LS1), with (air to air) intercooled Vortech 'T' supercharger, producing 742HP at 6000 rpm and 690 lb-ft. torque at 5700 rpm.
The 427 Specs:
Deepskirt cast aluminum cylinder block with pressure fit liner
Special T7 steel billet main caps
Alloy main studs
Forged steel, nitrided crankshaft
Oliver 6.125 long billet steel rods with bushing pins
Special length oil restricted pushrods
Competition Cams hydraulic roller camshaft
Reworked/enlarged throttle body with special large air meter
CNC ported, large valves cylinder head (chambers enlarged to 4.125 bore)
A custom carbon fiber engine dress package complements the engine bay.
Custom cast aluminum pedals integrated with the stock cast aluminum pedals controls the power transfer to a 6-speed manual Borg-Warner transmission. Stainless steel headers connect to a CORSA Performance 3.0" stainless steel exhaust system with 3.5" polished exhaust tips.
The chassis runs a modified independent suspension with Hotchkis Performance stabilizer bars, Brembo racing brakes at 14" fronts, and 12" rears. Goodyear F1 Fiorano tires are mounted on Kinesis Motorsport K58, 18" forged wheels with polished outer rim and custom painted centers.
The coupe's custom body panels include carbon fiber hood, front fascia and rear fascia and modified side coves. The car is painted in custom PPG quad-stage "Tiger Yellow" and dual-stage dark silver.
