Default Differential Failure....

Hey all,

Been lurking a long time, finally joined up.

I have a 98 C-5, have been modding it. Started with new LS-07 clutch, Rpm stage v trans, rpm 3.73 stage 2 diff. I have a cam, Supercharger (A&A full kit), dynoed at the 550hp RW. Approx 11 months, and maybe 500 miles the diff failed, now back at RPM for a rebuild. I have been debating on upgrading the diff to a stage 3, wonder if that is actually worth it?

Additionally, I'm adding the ECS brace in an attempt to prevent this from happening again, though wheel hop was not an issue. I don't drag race the car, maybe occasional spirited acceleration with the possibility of some day taking it to the drag strip to see what it'll do. Also on stock 275 rears, i am looking at a set of Z06 rim and increasing that to a 295/305.

Final goal will be around 600 hp RW, as I'm adding kooks headers and a meth kit (for safety).

Ive also replaced the torque tube bearing and rubber bushings, the water pump, new valve springs, and the balancer.

Understand that the clutch is overmatched, will replace that when the time comes. Anything additional I should be looking at now the car is torn apart?

Thanks for the great advice!

How about the upgraded tunnel plate?
Remote bleeder on clutch?
Ticks master cylinder?
Did you get upgraded output shafts?
Radiator?

Derz thanks for the input.

Ill look into the tunnel plate, output shafts were upgraded.

The rest is good inputs, ill have to look into getting those done (bleeder could be easy now everything is out of the car)

Radiator is interesting first ive seen that recommended, thoughts on the stock radiator? Probably good security trying to keep that stock block in there as long as i can...

As always thanks for the input. First time through modding a car to this level for me and it is always a learning experience.

DeWitts radiator... keeps my car cool no matter what I'm doing
I also have the oil cooler attached to it.

Have you looked into a better oil pump?
Ticks master cylinder DOES make the pedal harder, but makes shifting very easy...

Also - i've heard issues with stock valve springs? perhaps someone that knows better can chime in....
**edit: saw you already covered this

Don't forget other things... shifter, seats, coilovers, tint.... (I can go on and on)

Derz thanks for the inputs! Upgrading tunnel plate and putting in a remote bleeder as well. Both awesome recommendations. Researching radiator as that'll be in the next upgrade. Running the C6 Z06 shocks and upgraded the sway bars.

Got the tint (avatar is old pic) have repaired the stock seats (wanna upgrade the seats but will take more time... And money).

Constant upgrades for sure!

Thanks again
