Why not look at a diffrent brand of tire insted of getting a skinner tire.

Do you mean the Michelin PSS is back ordered until 2016?

I bought 285s for that reason. Seems fine to me.

I've been looking for a set of '296/35/18's for a while, hard to find!

305's not available?

Wide 18 are getting hard to find thinking about going to 19 rear wheels. Looks like more tires widths are available for the 19s..

The tire may look ever-so-slightly stretched, but as long as you're okay with that, I say go for it. Running a 285 in the PSS will still give you better performance than the other street tire options in 295. The performance difference between a 285 PSS and a 295 PSS would be small enough that most people would not notice. (I'm assuming the NT05 and similar tires are not a consideration due to treadlife, hydroplaning resistance, etc.)

I know I saw a picture of someone's C5Z that had 285's on all 4 corners (OEM 18" rear rims)... If you can find that pic it should give you an idea of what it'll look like.

It's not how BIG your tires are, but how much they STICK! I run relatively tiny SLICKS on track, but they have twice the stick of the biggest street tires. The Michelin PSS is an excellent tire which has way more stick than whatever the next best STREET tire has.
