81 Vette bought new traded for a new 84 Camaro because I needed a back seat. Truck did not have one either.
I think the time will come when the C5 will become an appreciating asset. Solely because the market is so crazy, and somebody high up convinced GM that these cars are now worth $100k. Look at the price of really nice C3's. They are bringing what they cost New, and more.
I fly also, and the same applies to planes. My plane is a 1961 Cherokee 160 which later became the Warrior model, and it's value is rising because there are few pilots that can afford to go out and purchase a new Warrior at $270k. The Cherokee 160 is just as fast, carries more weight (which is golden ) in the airplane world, and looks the same as the current Warrior. Except for the wing design which was changed for cosmetic reasons. So, a feller can buy a "really REALLY nice" Cherokee 160 for 30k-35k or spend $270 for new. Companies are going to price themselves right out of business, and then be standing around wondering what happened.
Granted , these new Corvettes are high tech, and cool......but a long way from being worth $100k.
I work for Nissan, and they have even come to that way of thinking. Now, they think their GT-R is a $100 car.

1974 Laguna S3. Big boat of a car with a 400 under the hood, swivel drivers seat and the overall look of a nascar racer. It had been in my family since new but I had to get rid of it to get a people mover as our family grew.
Sold it in the late 1980s to a kid who wanted something racy. About three months later I saw it parked with the whole right side destroyed. And a few months after that, photos of the front and rear bumpers for sale were posted on a parts store bulletin board.
Like a lot of guys, I had many cars, over the years.
But from the past, the one that sticks out most; was my 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SX 455.
That car, had a top end, that just seemed to never end. I know I went way faster than was safe; for the tire technnology back then. It was fun to drive, and never had a problem with it.
The picture below, was not my car; but a picture I found exactly like mine. Wish I had pictures of all my old cars???
Note the price of the one pictured below (exactly like mine). I paid considerably less, for mine brand new. Should have bought two,a nd kept them for investments.....
'75 Kawasaki Z1B and/or the '83 Honda 750 Sabre that replaced it.
Car-wise, maybe the '65 Corvair Corsa Turbo I had about 95% restored when the ex decided she wanted something else, or the '77 Scirocco, pretty much same story. Not sure what engines either one of them would have at this point...
But what I'd really like to have is the '58 Corvette my dad sold a couple weeks before I got my learner's permit. Unfortunately the buyer totaled it about a month later.
Great thread, I wish I had all my old cars back but lately I've had an longing for my '59 MGA. Yeah, it had all the usual British car problems but man there's nothing like that pure sportcar feel.
Well...except for alot of HP.

I purchased this 1968 Chevelle 31 years ago for $600. After more motor/tranny combos then I can remember, it currently sits in my garage with a 427 / turbo 400 and 3.55 12 bolt. After this many years of ownership, I'd never sell it. Someday, my daughter will end up with it.
1976 TA 455 4 speed that thing had so much torque and those came standard with a pu$$y magnet. Loved this car and I totalled it when I rolled through a red light. Painful part was I wasn't even goofing off or driving fast. It had everything under the sun done to it.
