Default Mystery Part

I was washing the Vette yesterday, and I noticed this object sticking out of and wedged in the crack near the bottom rear edge of the passenger door. I open the door and removed it. It could just be road trash, but..... it's black (so is my Vette) and the stringy part coming from the oval piece seems like fiberglass. I've looked and looked at the door and interior on that side of the car, and I can't find anything missing? The broken part seems to be either hard plastic or perhaps a soft pot metal?

Any ideas on what it might be?

TIA.

Jim

Jim could be a door latch rivet. Look on the inside of your door Jam where the latch catches. there are three rivets there that hold the catch in place. Start there.

Thanks. I looked there but couldn't find anything visibly amiss. I should have added it's about the diameter and thickness of a nickel (5 cent piece).

Could be a rivet from inside the latch as well. Who knows.

Can you take a closer picture that's not blurry?

If I am not mistaken I believe that is the hinge-pin the holds the back half of the car on?
