Default anyone "restoring" a C5 ??

With all the mint queens, cars with mods to die for and yada yada sometimes I wonder about the other side..like if anyone is fixing up a wreck or bringing a beater back to life, maybe a flood car, salvage, etc.

..pics and progress adventures might be fun.

**note** if this is a stupid idea blame it on the heat..

I added a couple pics to get the ball rolling, my car needed a new cam.

Mine was a DD for 14 years, so it's got its issues/quirks.

I don't consider it a beater, issues are not caused by neglect, just old/worn out stuff that needs to be replaced.

Downside is not much of it is inexpensive, so it's slow going.

Does that count?

I guess you could say mine is some what being restored. I pretty much abandoned it for four years and it got dirtier than hell and messed up. Last summer git it running again with a few upgrades cam headers exhaust. There is still dirt in the most ridiculous places I'm trying to get rid of. But it's fun and I'll never ignore her again.

Glad to hear you got her running again. What caused you to let her sit for four years?

I guess if I keep mine long enough and drive it a heck of a lot more, I'll eventually have to consider a restoration. Those that undertake a restoration have my respect - between the sometimes difficulty in finding replacement parts, the costs and time involved, it is a labor of love.

Restoration rule #1 - buy one someone else already spent their money on. Cheaper than doing it yourself.

Most , I said most Corvette owners now days think if they wash it themselves they say : see what I did . Not the same as back in the day when working on your hot rod was the thing to do . I work on mine and lot's of my Corvette buds say WOW you can do that ,times change. I just don't trust old Bobs son or who ever is working on my 195+ MPH Z-16 OPPS something fell off... LOL... Good luck..

In the few months I've owned my '98, I've had the front bumper repainted, bumper lights swapped, AC recharged, key fob replaced, brakes on all four corners, Lloyds mats since mine were missing, purple faded tint re-done, burned bulbs swapped for LEDs, and bought the seat rail shims. So kinda lol
