Default LED Ghost Shadow Door Light

Hi.

Buddy of mine is bringing his C5 over to have me install a set of those LED Ghost Shadow lights in the doors. They display the C5 flags when the doors are opened.

Has anyone had experience with installing these? Appear simple enough, but where do I get the trigger to turn on the leds when the door is open? Do I have to run a lead through the door rubber sleeves into the passenger compartment and tap into the under dash courtesy lights?

Where would I get instructions to remove the C5 door trim panels? How likely am I to break some of those plastic ribbed pins? Any idea on part number so I can buy a few spares?

Thanks,

M...

I have installed them on the wife's CTS and they were really straight forward. Just wire into to a source like the foot well lights. I would pull a power wire through the door for this on the C5. When installing in the CTS, I mounted them in the courtesy light lenses so I didn't have to drill into the door panel. Maybe you can modify one of the rubber access plugs to fit them and avoid drilling the door panel or SMC.

I did not do the "logo" puddle lights, but I did install LED strips under the doors, along the sills and in the footwells and wired the puddle lights through the door accordions as you suggested. Connected everything to the Courtesy lights on either side. They make a big difference since I drive mostly at night...

You may break a nylon mounting pin or two, but I never have (if so easy to replace). I "have" had one of the nylon female receptors strip out of the door fiberglass and have also had one of the door panel areas where the nylon plugs wedge into break off. Also had reflector tabs, door handle bezel tabs and door handle access tabs break off. These things apparently were designed to go on once, but I have had both of mine off about 4 times each - finally learning some tricks, but still delicate.
