Hi everyone,
I got a pretty common warning light that popped up a while ago - Service ABS and Traction Control.
Around the same time my passenger side window stopped working. I got the window fixed and just planned on getting the service light looked at later.
So I just had it looked at, and it appears (and I am paraphrasing here), the module that controls the ABS pump has failed - the ABS pump is exceeding the resistance of the module, thus both the module AND pump need to be replaced. If I only replace the module, it will break again as the Analog Break Pump is too powerful for it.
The module costs about $1,000 and the pump around $2,000 (and about $500 in labor.
I trust the mechanic, have had a lot of work done with him and he's always done right by me, BUT I am hoping he is wrong - and since I can spend much more time investigating this than he can I thought I'd throw it out to you guys.
I've read on other posts that the module can be sent out for repair, or that it might be a short in the electrical up by the nose of the car. I've also read that is the resistance does not match between the two, they both have to be replaced.
This sounds familiar. I have been looking for a C5 for the last 3 weeks and found a really nice 49K mile 2001 Z06 for sale at a local GMC dealer that had the ABS and traction control lights on. The Sales manager told me that the service department wanted $2500 to repair it and they decided that instead of repairing they were going to just send it to auction. He said if I wanted it it would be sold as is. It is a really nice unmolested car so armed with the information from this forum I downloaded all the codes through the DIC and the one code that I remember from my research showed up in the TCS module 1214 - Sol Valve Relay Contact or Coil Circuit Open. This is the relay that controls the ABS pump. Either the relay was bad or the solder connections for the relay were bad on the circuit board. I knew I could fix it and made them an offer on the car and got it for $15,500. I took the car home, pulled the EBCM, resoldered the connections for the relay and the car was fixed. Here's a picture of the 5 solder joints for the relay and the one circled in red you can see that there is a gap between the relay pin and the board. If you don't feel comfortable tackling this yourself just send it to absfixer. And here is a thread that walks you through the whole process. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-fleabay.html
Pull the code in the DIC. I had the Service AH/TC/ABS message and this was fixed by sending the EBCM to the absfixer for a repair. Want to say it was around $200 and the fixed module was returned in days and has worked fine for a few months now.

pull the codes and go from there... if you have a 1214 code most likely you can easily repair it yourself in an afternoon and for around $10 or less... $5 for a new relay (if you even need one) and a few bucks for a tube of clear silicone sealant... most of the time all you need to do is resolder the relay contacts and you're good to go... same thing happened to my car about a year ago and this fixed it right up
What was problem with the side window? The reason I ask is because there is a electrical connection going through the door, if loose, will cause all sorts of problems including the ABS traction light warning light to go on
I had my abs unit replaced by absfixxer, $160, very easy to do, it took me about 30 mins to remove. Go on there site, they have directions on what has to be done, very easy.

Is there a code that determines if BOTH the module AND pump need replacing?

I mentioned the window because I had read previously that there are sometimes a connection between the 2 issues.
I have a new rebuilt ABS Pump Module that was never installed. Let me know if you need it, I can sell mine.
I would be very interested - I am hopefully going to find a solution that includes NOT having to replace the pump but simply repair the module - but if the pump needs repairing I'd definitely like to discuss with you!
I looked but could not find a code C1249 for the TCS module however the description (Solenoid Valve Relay Coil or Contact Open) matches code C1214. This was the problem with my car and was easily and quickly repaired. Forward this link to your mechanic which describes the procedure and you should be good to go. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-fleabay.html

UPDATE - I sent over the information provided here to my mechanic. The original quote was about $3500 to replace both the module and pump. The solution of repairing the module by soldering the broken joints in the module worked.
Final Cost = $375
That includes me doing nothing but this research and sending the info.
