Default Tail light screws

My newly purchased '03 coupe has these chrome tail light covers that are, well, blingy but I'm just not enthralled with them.

Do you know what type tail light screws were original to the car and the best place to get them?

I went to Ace Hardware and bought Security Screws with black plastic covers. If someone is going to try to steal my halo's I want them to at least work for it (of course they would have to find my back turned for 5 minutes - not so easy)...

...and work for them they would! I don't have the security screws, but I do have the same plastic screw caps over my OEM screws securing my halos. It took me over 10 minutes one time trying to find the edge on one cap alone to remove it.

If you really want oem, Marc from http://www.vettenuts.net/ would help you out. I found three missing torque tube bolts which are special and he sent them to me for 5 bucks !!!!!!!!!!!!

My local Ace didn't have security screws with those black covers, so in the meantime I used some stainless that I had on hand.

So basically, my first mod is an un-mod. Anybody want some chrome tail light covers real cheap?

The black screw head "covers" are a separate item from the "Security Screws". I see them at Lowes also.

Haha! That's the next thing to go. And, before anybody asks, I don't mind the chrome around the license plate. Looks pretty plain without it.

Take one of your screws to make sure the dome-height on your screw heads are flat enough for the plastic cover to lock closed.

My '04 had the same 'bling' on it when I got it a couple of years ago. I took all of it off (including the license frame) and sold them on Ebay for $200. Was only trying to get around $75 but some kept bidding ... Then I had to get the black OEM license frame ... found it was discontinued from GM but found one dealer that had one for $85 - discounted down from $115 !!!!! for a piece of plastic ... but I bought it.
