Thinking about putting a cam in my c5. Car has 40,000 miles on it any suggestions on brands. Or where to have it installed and aprox cost. I live on Long Island NY and was probably going to go to JTM Motorsports in deer park heard good things about those guys.. If not trucking to NJ to ECS
I went with the Texas Speed Torquer V2 on a 112 LSA, made really nice power. As for price for install, I'm not sure but the install isn't awful as a DIY.
Horsepower Addicts has the best deal installed that I have seen on the East Coast. Their last special was around $1800 installed inclusive of the needed goodies. If you have an A4, you may want to plan on adding a higher stall converter as well. This is when it starts to get pricey bc of the labor.

Thanks for the mention.
We are currently $1850 for our cam package that includes parts, tuning, and dynoing. We have many customers that travel down from NY and surrounding areas that take advantage of our great tax free pricing. Give us a call with any questions.
I had a custom cam spec done by Pat G for my car. Installed it myself with good results. If you go the custom spec route you can tell whoever does it your wants and needs and get exactly what you want. It's worth a few extra bucks.

What is included with $1850 price.
I was quoted $2400 on Long Island to save $600 might be worth the trip. How long do you need car for?

Not sure on cam for our cars but heard good things about vet doctors in Amityville.

I had my cam done at horse power addicts. You can pick the grind and kit. The kit doesn't include a new oil pump or timing change so that may be an added expense just for the parts. Reach out to Josh at HPA if you need advice. Tell him your goals and he can guide you in the right direction. He pretty much only works on LS motors so he knows them like the back of his hand. Very fair good work. He treats the cars as if it were his.
Just a suggestion, if you even remotely think you're gonna do more than just a cam (e.g. heads, headers, etc.) save up and do it all at once. You can save a couple of bucks on labor since you're pulling the top off anyway.
FWIW, I went 224/228 breathes a little better than a 228/228. It's still a nice ride but you definitely know when you climb up on that cam around 3K RPM.
