I knew it would happen sooner or later, been dreading it. Was headed to buy my daughter her first car tonight and caught a rock on the highway. Anyone replace one recently? How much was it and do they still make the Z06 glass or do I even need Z06 specific glass?
Thanks
Do some searching. I've seen people still get the thinner Z glass. Its also set up for HUD. That said some have used a standard windshield with no display issues. The weight savings is minimal.
Just happened to me too! I am in AZ and my insurance covered it. I requested OEM HUD glass-THIS IS A MUST! Otherwise you will get whatever crappy glass they can find that fits. I saw the invoice and it was $1335.00. The OEM Z06 glass is thinner and is made for HUD. The guy who installed mine took 5 hours..Im not exaggerating, he has a classic Camaro and had a great deal of respect for the car. (but it now leaks .Ill remove the trim and fix it)
I just got my Z last month and got a rock following a truck on an on ramp. Just a tiny chip. It can be repaired if it's small. The chip on mine was. It was up high and to the right so no where near my field of view. Repaired another one that was down low that happened before I got it. Used Rain-x repair kit. Can barely see them now. Gotta really look for them.

Is it so large or cracked so that it cannot be repaired?
No it's small but still sucks, gonna get it filled by a mobile glass company, hope it holds and don't crack and spread, then it will have to be replaced for sure.
the OE AP thin glass is out of production and the few that are left are only sold at corvette swap meets usually for quite a lot
the OE AP glass for the coupe is available and probably the next best thing, i would imagine you would want all new moldings to make sure it looks and seals correct
safelite has non hud and hud glass, if you get a replacement i'd try and haggle to make sure you don't receive this and actually get AP glass
The right glass is AP glass this is what they put in them if you want it right the Z0-6 is the thin one ,I forgot the number 4.2 something ..Call this number the lady can get the right glass Becky in Tomball TX. 281-290-7080 ..I looked for weeks till I found someone who could get the right stuff and yes in HUD will need the HUD glass non HUD was $400.00 installed.. the Z0-6 glass TRIM IS MADE FOR THE THIN GLASS ..
