For about a week or so now I have had an all too frequent squeal coming from the drivers side front tire. It all started when I rolled over a reflector in a left sweeper turn - squealed but stopped upon tapping the brake or turning the wheel right. This noise has become something to be expected when I get in the car.
Being my DD I finally just had time to check the wheel. Bearing is fine, wheel doesn't budge. However upon removing the wheel and spinning the caliper it still squeals and it's definitely coming from where the brake pad is. I have to wonder if the caliper could be sticking? For what its worth I couldn't slide a piece of paper between the caliper and wheel. I had a similar issue on my bike a while back, I think I may have fixed it by removing the caliper but with the sun going down and not having removed the caliper on the vette I figured it to be best to come to the forums first.
The squealing ceases upon pressing in the break pedal and will resume once disengaged; it also stops occasionally when turning right.
I've seen some threads but nothing definitive.
Any thoughts? Time for new brakes and rotors? Was already planning on a set from brakemotive.
I guess that is what it is. Always had the squealers occur during braking not driving.
Soo I imagine this isn't good for the rotors but I hope to have everything this week so I can replace this weekend. Until then I get to hear this unbearable noise

No worries about rotors...just the noise would be enough to drive me crazy!
