They were surprisingly quick, I surprised a few 289 Mustangs and 273 Dodge Darts, back in the day.

Since the Hurst shifter were brought up, with the softer springs how much harder than the stock C5 shifters is it? I just got my C5 this week and have been looking hard at the C6 shifter swap, but ran across a brand new never sold Hurst today for a C note. The model number is #391 5086, it has an angled handle that caught my attention

As I've mentioned in a number of other posts, I've had the Hurst shifter I my '01 C-5 since early 2002. I bought one of the first ones that was released for sale. Although the car has only 24,000 miles at this point, it's still working well, and to my complete satisfaction.

Some of us "old timers" here have mentioned the old time Hursts, that bolted directly to the side of the transmission case....YES, they were a lot more direct and positive in their feel, but that was because they weren't selecting the gears through a 4-5 foot long rod.

Having said that, at least IMHO, the Hurst shifter for the C-5 is a good upgrade. BUT even like the Hursts of old, getting the adjustments CORRECT is the key to having it function properly. When I installed mine, putting the shifter in place was quick and easy, but then I spent another hour or two, fiddling with the adjustments, especially the springs, getting it "just right".

Thanks for the reply, I'm one of those old timers having cut my teeth on 4 speed Mopars back in the 70's. A Hurst just meant awesome shifter to me and having a bit of moditis on top of that it was just natural to want to put a Hurst in my first vette, and I wanted the shifter to angle back to me also....98 Torch Red, one owner, with 28100 miles on the clock.

I believe the C6 Z06 shifter has almost the same bend in it... I love mine

Thats what attracted me to it, I was wanting the bend the C6's had and had already started looking for a C6 shifter when I found this one on craigslist for a price I couldn't pass up. I figured it was cheap enough, had the bend I wanted and if I didn't like it I wouldn't be out to much.

Thank you, I have been trying to get someone to measure the Hinson throw and the only answer I could get was "about 2 inches"
Looks like close to 2-1/4". I have seen comments that the Hinson shifter will "loosen up" with use, but I think with a throw that much shorter, it will always have a fairly high shift effort compared to stock.

For comparison, stock C6/C7 shifter is about 3".
My Hurst modified shifter from Core Shifters is 2-7/8" from 3rd to 4th.
This shifter has Hurst internals, Hurst stick, and ****..for a retro look..

I had a Hurst billet shifter and had a shift effort that was still a little too much for a street car. The Core shifter for me is a good compromise between short throw and minimal shift effort for 5th, 6th, R, 7th.
I traded the C5Z06 for a C7 and took the shifter with me.

Note the Hurst stick is curved about 10 deg. toward the driver.

If you like the retro-Hurst look, this shifter is a good compromise of short throw and minimal shifting effort...
Throw is just under 3 inches, about the same as the stock C6/C7 shifter.

C5 shifter on the left has been threaded and cut off an inch at the top.

Thanks for the pics! Is the shifter on the right a shortened C6? And can you zoom in on the ruler picture? I am curious to see how tall these things are.

I have a shifter project I am working on. I want to get either the Core shifter or the Kirban shifter, solely because they both have a two-bolt removable stick. I am making a custom stick and am trying to get the length right...

The shifter on the right is the stock shifter out of my C7 (which I think is the same as the C6)
The ruler is a 6 inch ruler so you can judge the length by that...
Also, the chrome Hurst stick is 6-3/8" tall.

Check out some of our latest reviews from customers that had the opportunity to check our shifters out first hand in our test cars and displays at Holley LS fest this past weekend. They loved them so much they purchased on the spot.

So maybe the end of the month I will be celebrating my birthday and getting cuts and bruises from installing the shifter.
I would like to know what it was that you did not like.

I only have stock to compare it to, but I live my Hinson. FWIW, my car only had 17K miles on it when I shifted shifters.

I got it on their introductory price, and am quite happy.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and posting you feedback and information. It is greatly appreciated.
