I am in search of a short throw shifter. The one I currently have has no issues. Except I would like to see if I could replace it with one that claims to have shorter distance of travel when shifting.
Really interested in the MGW/Hinson/C6 Z06 shifter. Came close to buying the new Hinson for my Z06. But I figured I could get a little guidance before I do. New month, New Mod.
Well, yeah, this topic may have come up once or twice before - but what the heck, that's what a forum is for, right?
I installed an MGW. Drove it for a year, then did the anti-venom mod with one washer. Using AMSOIL trans fluid. Shifts perfectly and precisely, but it does require a little effort. It is not a "flick of the wrist" type shifter.
Anybody installed a C6 shifter? Is it a shorter throw and is it smoother shifting?
I installed a C6 Z06 2008 shifter and quite pleased with the improvement over the stock shifter. Shorter throw, smoother and not notchey. It is not stiff and shifter shaft is a little shorter which I like. Here are the part #s for the whole kit, control, ****, boot and bolt. I purchased from Bob at Rimrock Chevrolet in MT.

Yes I love mine. I had a B&M sport shifter before and just did not like the increased shifting effort for everyday street driving.
When I switched to the C6 shifter (box, ****, assembly) I never looked back. It has a slightly shorter throw and is more comfortably angled. The shifter box definitely feels smoother and more precise. The **** has perfect feel to it and looks like it belongs in a C5 interior.
