Any time you park any car into a tight spot you are asking for a door ding, doesn't matter where it is.

Was in a Hurricanes resturant on LI today and a girl backs into a c7. they were both backing out but he went first. loud bang but rear bumper of vette didn't look too bad. older gent was calm, just a decent sized dent and 2 big scratches. ran home and adjusted the cover on my c5 in the garage.

I was at a local casino yesterday (didn't bring the Vette because we also stopped at the outlet mall -- add that to the list of where not to bring a cool car), and saw a gorgeous C5 Z06 being left at the casino entrance for valet parking.

The Vette had lambo doors, and a few minutes later I looked out to the lot to see the valet worker pushing and shoving and bumping and doing everything he could to force the door shut after he parked it. It hurt to see that.

Parking it anywhere where you cannot keep an eye on it and where people gather, is taking a risk.

Same can be said when driving it.

BTW, you could add work parking decks to this list. I witnessed a nice Mercedes AMG getting the SUV door open treatment in our work parking lot just a few weeks ago. SUV pulls into a parking space where there is no way he can open the door without hitting the Mercedes. He then proceeds to park there anyway and of course slams his door right into the nice Mercedes. Didn't bother the SUV driver in the least that he probably just damaged the Mercedes and his own vehicle.

Usually the same method I use when parking my Z06. However, don't be surprised if the rattiest ride you can imagine, does not go out of the way to park as close as they can to you. I have, unfortunately, experienced this many times.

When ever I park in a lonely spot outside a grocery I can almost guarantee someone will park right up close beside me despite tons of empty parks between my car and the shop.

Exactly. These cars aren't collector cars. Nothing wrong with taking care of your car, but, being afraid to park a C5 at a store is taking it a bit too far IMO.

I keep mine in pristine condition for me to enjoy, just like my wife. I don't care about the next guy.

Easily to replace, it's only a machine, not collectable, worth less than a new Kia so I'll park mine almost any where and leave the top down

I've been to numerous stores in mine. I've even left the targa off several times (albeit I roll up the windows). I park in the vicinity of where the silver C5 was in JR's picture. It's all about getting further out than most people are willing to park/walk. Of course you could always have some asshat that decides to park next to you but you run into that wherever you go. Hopefully said asshat is just trying to be funny and leaves your car alone.

You had to mention Whataburger--didn't you? Now I am having withdrawal symptoms again.

You know that it is impossible to get them north of Amarillo Texas--don't you? Now I am going to have to drive 800 miles to get one!

There is nothing wrong with being proactive about taking care of nice things. I will drive my cars anywhere, but I park accordingly and enjoy the exercise......
