Default Lost records, HELP!!

I've lost the records of my oil changes. Kept in book other than manual. Any way I can access the mileage values where I reset the oil life back to 100% from the computer? Hard to sell without this info.
Thanks

I do not know for sure but I am fairly certain the computer does not save a record of this. I'm not sure why you think your car would be hard to sell. If you have all other service records and your car looks like it's been taken care of then you'll be fine. The car will sell itself if it's in good shape.

Unless you pay cash for everything, I gotta believe you have some other records showing when and how often you bought oil and filters (if you did the changes yourself) or paid someone else for it. Might not have exact mileage values, but unless your prospective buyer has world-class OCD, it shouldn't matter.

(I realize there are people out there that keep better track of the work done on their cars than their personal finances, but that particular syndrome never made a lot of sense to me.)

The computer knows how long ago (time and miles) the last reset was done, nothing before that. I seriously doubt anyone can even get at that info short of looking through a binary dump of the computer's memory.

[EDIT: upon further review, it may not know how many days since the last reset. Probably just a count of cold-start cycles or something like that as an estimate.]

Yeah, I've had all my financial stuff on the computer for so long, I forget that I'm one of those OCD people I talk about.

Short answer- no.

Your best bet are your credit card records/payment records.

Check with your bank or card issuer.

I seriously doubt that the car's computer stores each and every time the oil life monitor has been reset along with the mileage on the car at the time, other than perhaps the most recent event.

Honestly, I've never had a dealer ask for maintenance records when I've traded a car in. The condition of the car should speak for itself. If they want to low ball you on the value of your car just because you can't produce a detailed record of your oil changes, perhaps it is time to find someone else to deal with.

Setting oil life back to zero really doesn't prove when you changed your oil. I set mine back to zero today and I didn't change the oil.

Walk. I tried using the service records for my car and the dealership said they don't help with anything. They're trying to screw you over as most people don't keep all the receipts (I don't, but I do have a spreadsheet with everything performed). I would tell them to give you the deal w/out service records or you'll walk.

You could always go to another dealership and tell them what the previous one offered you (minus the BS w/the service records) and see if they can cut you a better deal.

As an "old fart" who spent 30+ years maintaining cars that DIDN'T have oil life monitors, I seldom remember to reset the monitor. On the 'Vette, since I only put about 2000 miles a year on it, I change it in the spring and fall.....

Who is zoom? A dealer? F'em. Walk and sell outright. They're just trying to lowball you.

Ask them to show you what they paid for the c7 otherwise you won't pay as much.

I've been considering cutting back to that. Thing is, I don't always drive the car enough to fully warm up the oil, and cook off any accumulated condensation. I try to avoid "short hops" when possible, but sometimes I can't help it.

I don't know about other people's cars, but at least on mine, I need to drive at least 15-20 miles, to get the oil up near 190-200*. That used to be easy, when I worked full time, as the trip to work was 24 miles, but since I retired, many of my outings are shorter....

I imagine it probably has to do with him living in NY. Maybe the car is winterized?
