Unequivocally yes - it's safe. Be sure to use it with plenty of water to float away dirt particles that aren't trapped in the clay and to lubricate the bar. Clay bar will remove bugs and dirt more easily than anything else I've ever used. Good on glass too! Do sections of the car and dry thoroughly be before moving to another section.
ABSOLUTELY safe if used per the instructions that come with the bars. ie use a lubricant such as detailer or light soapy water solution.
My car has been done several times.
Good advice. I just finished detailing my son's black Mustang GT. The first thing I did after washing it was the clay bar process using a quick detailer spray, followed by polish & wax. The paint is super slick and looks fantastic.
Yes it's safe... but you probably need some experience in doing a C5 first... so, if you would come clay bar our C5 for some hands on experience then you should be fine

you can't afford me (Dolly Pardon) it expensive to look this cheap
I read this on the forum where a guy used plumbers putty so i didn't have a clay bar and i gave it a try. Worked great just use plenty of cheap quick detailer for lubricant.
Is a clay bar an abrasive method to remove contaminants from the clear coat? If yes, then not for me. There are other methods, albeit more laborious to get the same results.
I have never claybar-ed a car before. Never even seen one done. I have a white 98 vert. How do i know if it needs it?? Or should I just do it ?? Are there brands to use or stay away from??
