I have a stock 03 Z06. I noticed today that the temperature shown on the DIC reads 20 degrees hotter than the gauge does. I checked it with a thermometer, and the gauge is correct. Has anyone else noticed this, and is there a fix for it? DIC shows no codes.
Thanks

Does Not Compute. Both the DIC readout and the gauge needle position are derived from the same digital temperature signal from the PCM. You could read that signal directly using a GM scan tool, but my money is on the DIC readout being correct: it's just displaying the value it received without any translation to (pseudo-analog) gauge needle position.

Unless you have your thermometer in the coolant stream at the same location as the engine coolant temp sensor, that measurement is irrelevant.
I would agree the DIC would most likely be the more correct temperature reading.
You can compare to when the fans operate to evaluate also.
Factory temp settings are low speed on at 226 degrees and off at 219 degrees. High speed on at 235 degrees and revert to low speed at 226 degrees. As stated both fans run at low speed and high speed and fans are commanded off by the PCM when the vehicle speed exceeds 35mph.
You can force low speed operation at 185 degrees by turning on the AC. High speed operation with AC on is still 235 degrees.
