Re: Are the Borla Stinger issues resolved? (Chalky'sC5)
The following is only my own $.02 worth
For what those sell for, they should line up perfectly to the naked eye. I will not be ordering any, then, if they can't fix a simple problem such as described. And the more that we buy them and fix ourselves, why should they fix them? And if we continue buying them without bitching, then they are going to say, "What problem" "Nobody told us about a fit problem". I am in favor of using whatever resources necessary to force the vendor/manufacturer to resolve any quality issues. If enough buyers/users return the product, they will fix the problem, especially if the exhaust is sent back to them on their nickel.
Thanks in advance

I am **** about those kind of things...tips have to be perfectly lined up! If I spend that amount of money I expect it to fit right. I went with the GHL system partly because of that reason. I did have to do some minor adjusting with the GHL's but it was no big deal since there are three different areas where adjustment is possible.
Re: Are the Borla Stinger issues resolved? (WWK888)
I looked at a coupe this weekend with a set of Borlas installed. The owner said they weren't perfectly lined up yet but it was unnoticable to me. I think the daul tips aren't as obvious when misaligned as the stock quad tips are. My stock tips are off only slightly and stick out like a sore thumb. I should have my Borlas this week. After seeing them up close this weekend I have to say that for the price ($599 shipped)...nothing else comes even close.

I didn't measure. My question was simple or so I thought. If I try to make the tips line up better, I end up with the left side pipe hitting under the trunk.
1: Does Borla have a problem with the Stinger system regarding fitment?
2: Do they have a solution? If they have a solution, I don't want to beat myself up trying to repair a flaw. It is possible, very possible that my system is fine but needs to be adjusted for proper fit. My car is also lowered.
Now , the disclaimer,
1: I installed my system in my garage.
2: I am not a exhaust tech.
Finally, I do like the system, and the sound. I would buy another.

Re: Are the Borla Stinger issues resolved? (Gary Wells)
Gary-
I just had Borlas installed on the Z06 last week. They went in easily and the fit is near perfect. The exhaust shop said the last few he's installed have been much better in ease of installation.
Re: Are the Borla Stinger issues resolved? (Chalky'sC5)
I had the worst set in the world when I first ordered them. The driver's side over the axle pipe was in contact with the floor pan and the tips were not only uneven, they were coming out at different angles. Well one call to Borla and they overnighted me a new system that fits WAAAYY better. Still had to monkey with the driver's side so that it wouldnt hit the pan when I went over bumps. Now they are straight, level and sound mean!!! It was worth the pain I went through.

Big Law Man:
I called Borla this morning. First suggested that I remove the left muffler and try and bend the tip in towards the muffler to reduce the length difference in tips. The big problem was the pipe hitting the bottom of the trunk after it came over the axle.
Ultimately, after trying that fix and reinstalling the left side again, I called Borla back. After the tech discussed my problem with someone else at Borla, they agreed to send me a new over the axle pipe for the left side. I hope I don't have to wait the 6 weeks I was quoted for the pipe to arrive.
BTW, my manufactured date was 7/18/02. All in all, very good customer service by Borla.
Re: Are the Borla Stinger issues resolved? (Chalky'sC5)
Chalky,
They sent me an entire new system overnight, so I would assume after a little pressure by you they will overnight that pipe to you. My manufacter date was somewhere around that same time, either the 12th or the 18th of July. If you still have problems with the new pipe, call them back and ask for Louis. He was awesome in helping me and another forum member that had similar fitament issues. He is aware of the problems.

They must have seen that you were packin "Big"
Friend of mine spoke to a Damian and got the same 6 weeks for just the left pipe, and he pays return shipping. If it aint right, I'll tell him to call Louis :yesnod: :yesnod:

Just curious but did your friend ever get his replacment over the axle pipe?
I am still waiting. I was told to expect an addition 10 days due to some in house issues. I am less than thrilled so far with Borla's time tables. It would have been easier to give me a credit to go to a repair shop and have the bend adjusted in the pipe.
