Default Header Cost questions??

So Im thinking about doing headers on m C5 as the first mod since I just bought the vette. My question is what is a fair price range to get them installed. I would also like to do a cam as well not sure if it makes more sense to do them together? I am very mechanically inclined, but sadly don't have access to a lift so I guess I will have to pay a shop to the the work. I live in Virginia beach and not sure about to many good places around here. I contacted Virginia Speed, which is close by and the quoted me $2250 for Kooks long tubes with catted X pipe and tune installed. Seems kinda pricy for just headers, but again I don't know. Any advice will be appreciated !! Thx

Headers cost themselves is about $1,500.00
Dyno tune is in the range of $500.00
So install cost of $250.00 is very reasonable.

I would say do all the work at once that way you only have to pay for a tune once. You don't need a lift to install the headers but it is certainly helpful. If you go about the install yourself you can always get a mail order tune (~$250.00).

See my thread here:

I STRONGLY recommend the team at EFI Performance here in Richmond. It's worth your time to talk to Steve and come up with a plan. Do not piecemeal it one at a time. Save up your funds, and do everything at once, else you are going to have to retune/dyno over and over again.

I actually read your thread last night and it made me want to do everything even sooner haha. Love your build looks like you chose almost exactly what I'm looking for. Might have to wait a while seeing as dropping 10K+ is probably not the best idea for me at the moment. Might just get the headers done sometime soon to make me happy and hold me over and wait to get the cam and heads done at the same time. Went into Virginia Speed and talked to them for a while, and they seemed very nice and fair. Was quoted just under 5K for a custom cam and headers with new rods springs ect. And they had a customers Z06 there that they just did the same package on and let me tell you it sounded awesome!!

The price you were quoted for headers, install and a tune was pretty reasonable, especially for a higher end set of headers like Kooks. Obviously you could get by a little cheaper if you go with some less expensive headers but your performance may not be the same.

Default I agree

The price is right. Except if you would install them yourself, you can use the extra cash on ceramic coating.
