Default Some maintenance items cropping up

Been daily driving my C5 the past week and noticed some maintenance items that need my attention. First item is my seat is moving around more than normal so I think it's time to take care of this. I also noticed yesterday when washing it a few drips of water got in between the window and the seal. Never saw this before so I'm guessing a new set of window seals is in the future. Lastly the wiper tray looks like crap. It's faded and has a small crack in the corner so it's time to replace it. Thankfully the items are nothing major and easy to fix.

Lastly what do you guys use to clean the barrels of the wheels. Mine are brand new and I want to keep them that way. Tried getting in there with just the wash mitt and couldn't get it completely clean.

I pull the wheels off at least once a year and they get a thorough cleaning.

You may not need new window seals to cure the water leak. You can adjust the window tip-in to have the window sit tighter against the weatherstripping and if you have a targa top, you can adjust the fit against the weatherstrip.

I have a number of files on water leaks on the C5 as well as window/targa top adjustment. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.

As far as cleaning the barrels of the wheels, each time I wash the car, after finishing I jack up the car, use some jack stands for safety, and crawl part way under the car with a wet rag and a dry rag and wipe down the barrels. Keeps them looking good and really doesn't take that long to do.

WOW
If I did that my neighbors would definitely call the men in the white coats. Right now they think I crazy for the care I give the Vette. Some say more than my wife. Arguable.

Apparently your neighbors do not know the pleasure of owning a Corvette!

I'll take mine off at the end of the driving season and do a complete cleaning but during the driving season I'll use the cleaning sponge.

My Corvette is carport stored and we live a block from the Atlantic Ocean. Because of the salt mist it gets a complete wash on average every five days. It gets wiped down between "real" washes about every other day, sometimes more. My neighbors are mostly older and retired with nothing much to do but sit on their decks and watch the world go by. Or the guy across the street who obviously loves his Corvette. I flipped a few of them out when I started using a leaf blower to blow dry the car when it is washed. One old lady said, I've never seen anyone blow dry a car before. She understood when I asked what is the last thing that happens when you drive through an automatic car wash?

What was neighbor's response? Mine would have been "Uh, my GF zips my pants back up"

Pay no attention to me, I'm thread-surfing looking for replacement weatherstripping.

Before replacing the seals, try to condition them with gummi pflege. It's good stuff and helps restore and care for the rubber. I believe it literally translates to "rubber care".
