Got my set of 1 7/8 Hinson headers in a couple weeks ago and a buddy of mine MMR23 is slapping them on for me in his shop today. They did not come with any kind of instructions which I understand it's headers and how much instruction do you really need. They also did not come with any provision for a dipstick tube bracket leaving the tube kind flopping around out there. Although not an earth shattering issue it just doesn't seem like a good idea. I think it will be fairly simple to make a little bracket and mount to the header bolt I was wondering what others have done with header installs. if you have any pictures to give me an some ideas that would be great. Now the Biggest complaint so far is this.... What is the one thing that every car guy looks for first when you open you brand new box of whatever car parts you just ordered and no matter what it just makes you happy to see it in the box??? Is it the instructions?... LOL (who uses those) no, Is it the parts? NO! Its the stickers!!!! Tell me I'm not alone in my overjoyed sense of happy when you see that you got some new stickers that you really don't know what your going to do with. Tell me I'm not the only one to go into slight depression when you search like a kid through the new box of cereal for toy (that used to be) inside only to find... No sticker
The 98 had a different dipstick, hopefully somebody else will chime in as I can't recall the fix. I do think it's a different tube. Although the tube sitting in space really should be fine I'd think.
his car is a 98. here's a pic of the dipstick tube. stock manifolds it was bolted to #6 cylinder. i'd say make a clamp with a tab to put a bolt and nut through it.
I had the same problem when I put headers on my 97. You have to get a dip stick and tube for a 99-04 because they bolt to the head right above the header flange.
