Haven't officially put mine to sleep yet, still hoping to take it to the plant and museum with my grandson in a week and a half - provided the weather holds out. But after that, it's probably back under the cover until spring.

It is mostly a matter of convenience (when I have time to do it) and not waiting until it is too late (salt has been put down).
Here in MI, the wonderful DOT folks start wetting themselves right about now in anticipation of, quite literally, the first snowflake...so that they can go out and spread salt far and wide with reckless abandon.
Although I would never choose to drive my Vette (or other collector cars) in the snow, snow by itself isn't any worse than rain (actually, it isn't as bad as far as getting the car dirty). BUT...once salt enters the equation, all bets are off. Just about the worst thing you can do to a car is give it the salt bath that MI is so famous for...
