My son who says he was influenced by a 1986 Mustang GT I bought when he was 7 has developed a taste for fast cars. After looking at the C7 and deciding he didn't need to spend that much money bought a new 370Z which is a car he has liked for years and it is pretty much his garage queen. He has an 05 SWB Silverado too but after learning he is going to be the daddy of twin boys in March he knew he needed a "family" vehicle. So after a few months of looking we flew down to Miami to pick up his family wagon,,,,,,,,,
A well maintained 09 Porsche Cayenne S which is a pretty good performer given it's 5700lb weight. I believe he thinks he can give me a run for my money but the extra 2500 lbs will be a killer.
I'm still lobbying for him to sell the 370Z and move to a C5 but it's been a tough sell so far. I am still happy we share the enthusiasm for performance cars and I will have two grandsons to turn into gearheads too!
Not sure what any of this has to do with a C5 corvette?
It appears not a darn thing with the car specifically. But that is not the point. This gentleman is merely expressing the fact that he is proud of the son he and his wife have raised and is excited that his son has a common interest with his father. Being into nice, fast and exciting rides has absolutely nothing to do with a C5 Corvette exclusively but more to do with the appreciation of what has been produced for our enjoyment, no matter the manufacturer. The OP merely wanted to share a positive situation in his life with fellow enthusiasts. I am fifty nine years old, married thirty eight years to the same woman, a redhead, who enjoys the same things I do. We were not able to have children but the fact that she loves fast cars, no matter what the brand is enough for me. Even though I feel the C5 platform is one of the best ever produced regarding this venue and enjoy driving the '04, I still love my '66, '67 and '73. All having pluses and negatives. Drove the '67 on our honeymoon.
Pure enjoyment and sharing the passion is what the OP was really wanting to share with us. OP, you are truly a lucky man.

Some of my "Love for performance Cars" rubbed off on my son too.
He recently purchased his dream car A used, but very nice BMW M3
I'll still keep my Vette!
No need to hide on that, M3 is a darn nice car; particularly E46 and newer. I drove 3 series for many years, turned my DD 2003 325i into my winter car last year when I got my Corvette. Great car the M3, even the 325i. But yes, still keeping the Z also!
