I have 99 c5 and one day I went got in it and the radio was dead no clock nothing works. I put in a aftermarket head unit thinking the stock one just went bad and still have no power. Any ideas what I need to check any common problem I need to start with
Not at home now but I will pull the schematics and we'll start diagnostics.
Do you know how to use a voltmeter and ohmmeter because their use will be needed. A multimeter can do both.
How do you know the fuses are fine. Did you pull and test for continuity or measure voltage on each side when installed? Looking is not the way unless you see it blown.
Yea I know how to use voltmeter I used a test light on number 5 fuse I also Checked connector on the back of the radio the ground was good It also lit up on 2 pins can't remember what ones any help would be greatly appreciated
I hv a 2000 c5 convertible and I changed out the factory radio for an aftermarket one and tested it out it worked fine so I proceeded to finish up the install and tested it again, now it's not powering up so I connected factory radio back up and it now has no power as well. Are the schematics for the 99 the same for the 2000?

Yes it was the fuse thnx a lot I really appreciate the information. And so far I've updated the radio with backup camera and I was able to keep bose speaker system utilizing the pac wiring harness kit and added an additional amp and sub. Upgraded headlights and fog lights to leds (much brighter) and added a cold air intake and borla exhaust axle back but didn't run into any issues until I messed with the radio. Thnx again for the help
