Anyone in the Louisville KY/Jeffersonville IN area that might have one I could borrow?
I just replaced my BCM with a used one and it seems most of the codes/DIC messages I'm getting has to do with 38 RTD no comm, Shocks inoperative, Service ride control, Maximum speed 80 MPH, etc.
It's obvious my vette and the one the BCM came out of has different suspension systems.
Sounds like you got an F45's BCM. Wish I could help - I do have a Tech 2 but moved from Jeff/Louisville 5 years ago. You may be able to get a dealer tech to help you out if you slip him a few bucks. Several here have done that but you'll need to find one willing to help and not charge an arm and a leg. Best of luck.
Sometimes it's best to bite the bullet and let the dealership do the job. This might be one of those times. They should have the expertise. At least tell them what you need and get an estimate.
There is a complicated process for deleting the option for cars that actually had RTD. You may not be able to do it. Here is what it requires, and you don't have the box and harness to implement. You can try the delete but I doubt it will work without the module.
1. Hook up Tech 2, turn ignition on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option.
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn ignition off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in.
5. Turn ignition off, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Unhook the negative post of the battery and walk away for an hour
8. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.

Good luck. Mr. Sam
Is it possible to mess up the system if you don't know what you are doing?

It is in the sense that that F45 deletion just doesn't take. But, I've never heard of anyone doing permanent damage to the BCM by doing the procedure in the wrong order or incorrectly.

Just wondering. I have had experience screwing up computers by not knowing what I was doing. It wasn't permanent, but took a long time to get back to where it was.
No, you can't screw anything up. The Tech 2 can't do that. It is just designed by GM to let you change RPOs and some other things like manual to auto, rear end ratio, etc.
Not all dealers know what they're doing. I went to one today and asked if they could change an option or two in the BCM. I got a funny look. He left, came back and said, come back Thursday and I'll give it a try for $98.50.

That's true, but most dealers have enough techs working for them that some of them will have experience with C5s. Most independent shops have never seen a C5. Remember the C5 is 20 years old and some of those techs were in diapers when it came out. My dealer has an older guy that has a lot of experience with Corvettes. I always request him and they always are glad to accomadate me.
