Default Having a seat issue

Just bought a '98 and discovered a strange issue with the driver seat. The power controls seem to work fine, but when I move the seat all the way forward I am further away from the pedals than I would like. I am 5'9" so I am thinking something is limiting the seat travel. Any ideas?

Yep something is wrong. My wife drives my Z once every few months. She is a hair under 5'-2", no problem getting the seat forward enough.

I am wondering if the back/front is too high/low. Maybe I need to get the seat level front to back and about half-way up in height? Will try playing with that on my way to work tomorrow.

Make sure you clear out all the empty beer cans under there.

If it ends up as a true travel issue you might have to lube it back up.

Played with the seat a bit today. Tilting the seat to various positions made no difference. When moving the seat forward there is definitely a hard stop where it's hitting something in the track.

Raise it all the way up and try. Would also let you look under it.

I agree, the next logical step is to remove the seat. Maybe something is blocking the movement. Make sure nobody made any mounting mods maybe? (Maybe the previous owner was 6'-9")

I raised the seat up all the way and looked under it. Nothing obvious blocking the travel. When moving it all the way forward, there still a couple of inches or more of track left that is not being used. Must be something inside the mechanism jamming up. I will let my mechanic pull the seat and figure it out.

It's shame that GM did not put WAY better seats in the C-5 Corvette ,I have a 03 AUDI with 200,000 miles and the 16 way seats and the leather still look new and it works like new .. What were they thinking .I have rebuild my 04 seats 3 times they are right now , I put lots work into them just make a point I could do it . That was dumb ,should put them in the can ... Now I got C-5 seats that look good not bad to sit in but still crappie C-5 seats I should have put the Viper seats in ,next time ..
