Default Washer/Wiper go crazy

2002 Z06 21,000mi. Driving down the road and the wipers and washer come on all by themselves. Cannot turn them off using the controls on the steering column. Have to remove the 10 amp fuse under the carpet. Driving me insane. Anybody have this problem and a fix for it. Thank you.

I had a similar issue and once I pulled everything apart I decided to replace just the circuit board as this was a much cheaper option particularly when shipping to the UK.

I had already cleared out the front two udders and as you can see the third one was completely blocked up with crap….

I removed all three udders and cut the bottom of each one, the drainage slit appears to be such a poor design and I wanted to make sure I didn’t have a repeat.

Once the circuit board was removed from the wiper motor it was plain to see it been submerged, and maybe for some time.

I put on some sealant and put the motor back together.

This is a relatively simple fix, believe me when I say if I can do it, anyone can.

If the wipers AND washer pump activated it would tell me the column control switch is the issue. The pump control is separate from anything in the cowl. I can verify the circuits just to make sure when I get home, but am "certain" I am correct on that.

Never heard of both acting up at the same time.

8VETTE7 (aka Chuck) what do you think of my diagnosis?

OK, I verified the schematic. The two circuits are totally independent. The pump circuit does not go thru the wiper motor at all.

The switch is your problem.

Here is info on accessing that location. It is for the left side where the MF switch is but should be helpful.
