The 04 was all stock it was my first time to see the COTA in Austin after a lap see ya ,now have 100 HP more . Older Corvettes fast YEP ... C-7s bring it .. C-5s for the money best deal going for an old HOT ROD..
Cool video, but what was that loud "whining" noise that more or less ruined the experience?
on the flip side there are guys with stock to near stock cars that baby it all the time and the first time they decide to open it up is in front of a crowd and they have no idea how the car is going to react and well, you know the end result... one of them fell victim to this scenario in my area not too long ago and it was posted all over this forum... I don't really think it's fair to pin that act to a certain power level of car, it has more to do with ignorance in general... it's definitely not something I would do and one of the reasons I don't attend events like that
^^^^^ this is exactly what I think happened also! Everybody has to learn their car before doing it out in public. Ya gotta figure out what its gonna do when ya mash the right pedal! And there is only one way to find that out!
Ps. don't try it where there is curbs, ditches, walls, cameras or people around.

I found the worlds slipperiest parking lot the other day. Kept a drift going at 1300rpms on damp pavement, it was insane. Unfortunately it meant almost no control, so I'm glad there wasn't anything around to hit!

Drifting looks so fun, I have not found a place to really try it more than just one corner, now that I finally have my car running right my buddy says he wants to video me trying to drift with his drone camera if it's not embarrassing I will post it up. First I got to try to find a wide open space with no security
I know of some mostly stock maximas that have broken off low 13 second passes, they're quick little cars. 280whp isn't uncommon from a bolt on maxima, and they put the power down pretty well.
No HD is fast, period. They aren't meant to be fast. Even 150 horsepower from a 1000 pound rider/bike combo would have trouble keeping up with a c5z.
WOW... Really? A 1000 lb. 150 HP bike set up to handle that power, is a low to mid tens machine. I love my Z06, but stock it would not get close to 11.5 or less, more like low 12s at best. I might get it into the high 11s with slicks.
Top end is the only way you would beat a bike with that kind of power. My stage 2 Victory Kingpin will take my Z06 in the quarter even though neither is not completely stock.

I also said that 100 horsepower with 1000 pounds is about as fast as a maxima. Which it is.
It's not really a big deal, my bike wasn't fast either, and certainly not with me riding it. Always had good experiences with Harley riders, but all my motorcycle friends race at VIR, so you won't convince me that a Harley is fast, period.
I've never even seen a 1/4 mile track, so a quick time there really doesn't even concern me though.

I just changed your quote to reflect why some of us feel stock Corvettes are slow.

I already gave you the numbers that disproves this. And that was with a 2016 maxima with 300 hp. The harley is faster. Done.
I love my C5 and am very satisfied with the HP. I believe the later models (mine is 2002) are very powerful and comfortable. My wife sure like this one better than my old 1982CE.
that's just an excuse road racers use when their car does not accelerate very well in a straight line... just kidding!... I love all aspects whether it be straight line acceleration or corners but I personally would not want to own a car that was purpose built to do only one of the two... for example I do not really care for all out drag cars that you cannot drive on the street nor do I like cars built strictly to take a corner but are dogs when it comes to acceleration, I like a happy medium... I don't have the time or money to afford to go out to road courses all the time just to have fun with my car so that's why I focused more on adding power, the rush of sheer acceleration does it for me and I can enjoy that pretty much anywhere I drive the car... when it was stock and even with boltons it just didn't do it for me
I was talking about a 2002 maxima, with minimal bolt ons. Race one on your Harley. Done.
DB,
You seem like a good guy, so I'm not going full on "commando" on you.
I gave you the numbers regarding rear wheel hp and weight, even considering the 280 you claim the bolt on maxima makes. Your theory doesn't hold water.

Neither are stock. Neither one..
Top end yes, my Z06 would leave the Kingpin. 1/4 mile, not.

We will just have to agree to disagree this time.
Shakey
Funny, you and I must also have different opinions on what "going commando" is hajaha.
I'm just saying, I think the race would be very close between the two, and it's much more difficult to get a bike cleanly off the line than a car.
