Talk about a personality change...these things rock. What an awesome sound. At idle, it has that great low American rumble.
At steady cruise there is only a slight increase in volume and a little more resonance over stock but the slightest touch of the throttle and they start to growl. As the revs rise they start to scream. They're not obnoxiously loud like I had feared but I wouldn't call them mellow either. The exhaust note is perfectly wicked...
The install was a breeze and I can safely say that Borla has fixed their quality issues. The tips are nicely chromed and friggin HUGE. They're like bazookas sticking out the back. I like the look way better than the 4 tip setup. The position of the pipes is adjustable in 2 different places...the cannister itself can be rotated plus the holes where the H-pipe bolts on are slotted. Tip alignment was flawless after a few minutes of tweaking.
The back of the car has to be raised till the top of the rear fascia is a minimum of 57 inches off the ground. This is very high and I wouldn't recommend this as a DIY unless you have some very good jack stands (not the cheap stamped kind), a very high lift jack, and I also used ramps in the front (a lift would have been nice). Once the car was up, the pipes can be rotated enough to get them out. Start to finish (not counting time to raise the car) is about an hour. After the test drive I noticed blue smoke pouring out the exhaust and I initially FREAKED OUT...till I realized the inside of the pipes were coated with oil to aid in manufacturing...it quickly burned off.

Man that sounds high. Is that 57 inches from the bottom of the rear bumper to the ground? That is close to 5 feet. I don't even think my stands can go that high. I would love to see a picture of the car up that high.
Find a lift! Either a friend, a local high school, car club shop, etc. It's not worth risking it with jackstands as you have to get it REALLY high up to take off the stock exhaust without cutting anything. It's just not worth the risk! Any C5 jacked up that high on jackstands will be VERY unstable.
Save yourself a lot of headache and possible injury. I took mine to a local tire shop and they only charged me $42 to mount the Borla's with me helping the guy. It's a simple bolt on - no cutting or welding. Just get it up on a lift, drop the rear sway bar, unbolt and remove the stock exhaust and slap the Stingers on, then re-attach the sway bar. (Only have to remove the sway bar support brackets so it will swing down out of the way - NOT the sway bar's end links!)
I just don't want to hear of anyone getting hurt/crushed attempting to jack a C5 up that high! Spend the $50-$75 to have it done right!
Used my quick lift when doing a friends car (backed the car on) backed all the way to the front and kind of had teh rear of the car hanging it's butt over the front of the lift and the old system came off like a champ. And that was nowhere near 50+ inches.
So a QuickLift will work for those contemplating the install and if you know someone with a Q/L
It's 57 inches from the ground to the top of the fascia above the center brake light. I agree about the lift. I have some very good stands and a jack that allowed me to avoid. As I said I don't recommend this for a novice mechanic. The install is a cake walk. Lifting it that high...you better know what you're doing. It did look funny as heck.
