Default Question om muffler

Hello, i have a stock c5 engine & muffler, i'm thinking of buying just the corsa extreme axle back, How much better will it sound, and on a loudness scale from the stock system. Should i get the X pipe and replace that also, is that worth doing? Thanks

If you have a coupe then quite a bit louder. Cruising won't really be louder, but full throttle will be.

When I did my exhaust (first thing I did) I left the factory h pipe because I knew I was going to do headers down the road, which requires a different x pipe.

If you plan on doing headers at any point, leave the factory h pipe, if not the x pipe will be a nice upgrade. Either way the sound will be a major improvement

How many separate threads do you need for asking questions about mufflers?

Exactly. Ha. Corsa systems are top notch. One of the reasons being that they produce zero drone at low rpm's. (Interior resonance that causes major headaches) The extreme system you're looking at will give your otherwise stock car a very aggressive sound when you open it up, but remain quiet when you want to cruise or have a conversation with your passenger. Good choice on the exhaust. Go for it!

Edit: from the two C5's I've heard in person with Corsa Extreme exhaust, I'd say if the stock axle back were a 1/10, the Extremes would be a 7/10 at wide open throttle. (A buddy of mine had this exhaust as well, but he has long tube headers up front and a medium size cam. His car is definitely a 10/10 on the decibel scale. )

If you like the car loud when you hit the gas, the system you are looking at will do the trick and sound great. Corsa makes an excellent product with no drone. If you want something a bit quieter but still a huge improvement over the stock system, consider getting the Corsa Sport system. I have the predecessor to that system on my car and love it.

Your best bet is to find some other owners that have the Corsa catbacks on their car and see if they will let you hear the exhaust in person, perhaps even take you for a ride in their car so you can hear it on the road. As to an x-pipe - I do not have one on mine and the car sounds great. But if I install long tube headers I will get one with whatever system I go with.
