Buying the car and fixing it is an option, however, it will have a salvage title and that will stay with the VIN forever. With that many miles, the value will be pretty low in your hands. The insurance company will place it up for auction and it will become recycled by a person that will take it apart and sell the good stuff. If the insurance company will allow you to remove your add ons, do it and let the car go. Most salvagers try to buy c-5s for $7000 or less, and then they are equipped with lots of good stuff. Your front end is toast and that is what brings more bucks since most collisions wipe out the front (thank you cell phones). Rear ends are a dime a dozen.
