Default Electrical issues - Headlight and Misc.

A few times last year, turn signals wouldn’t work for a few minutes here and there. Very sporadic, hasn’t happened for quite a while.

A couple of months ago, dash lights didn’t come on when I turned on the headlights. Lights came on after a few minutes. Happened twice.

Last month, headlight doors wouldn’t close using the stalk, but the lights go off when the car is off. Headlight doors close after sitting a little while. Now most of the time the doors pop open and the headlights go on when I start the car. Interestingly, with the car off, I can get the popups to close when I move the steering wheel tilt to the top position.

A couple of weeks ago, the highlights didn’t popup (mid-day warmed back into the 50’s) when I turned on the car. When down, the stalk raises and turns on the headlights. Stalk no longer closes the popups.
Last week discovered the dash lights will come on if the Twilight option is set to On, but not when set to Off. In either mode, the popup doors only go down when the key if out of the ignition and I put the steering wheel to the top tilt position.

Could anything other than the Multi-Function Switch be causing these symptoms????

From all the reading, it appears I have the common Multi-Function Switch issue. Closing the popups by raising the steering wheel tilt might be providing the extra tension needed for the connections.

Has anyone had these types of symptoms where it turned out to be a different problem? Just want to see if there are other possibilities before for I perform Multi-Function Switch Surgery.

A few of the posts warn of a runaway spring during disassembly. Is it inside the switch under the gray cover? If not where exactly.

Thanks Guys.

I agree it sounds like the MF switch is your issue for all or most of the issues. The turn signal issue is more likely to be the Hazard switch but maybe not.

If it was me I would replace the MF switch first. You can try a repair. not me.
